SOLANA HAS LAUNCHED A CRYPTO-BASED, WEB-3 ANDROID SMARTPHONE

The blockchain company announced on Thursday the launch of its very first Android flagship smartphone made in collaboration with Osom. The phone was built by a team consisting of former engineers and designers from Essential and was previously known as Osom OV1 now repurposed and renamed Saga.

It is going to be the first crypto-centric phone and pre-orders for the $1000 smartphone opened after the announcement. Users will be required to deposit $100 while placing their order and the shipping will begin in early 2023.

The device specifications are as follows

  • A 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED display
  • 512GB storage
  • 12GB RAM
  • Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip
  • 50-megapixel primary and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera

Saga stands out in the market due to its support for decentralized apps that rely on the Solano blockchain something the average smartphone seems to be lacking. The device is an added advantage for users who are quite familiar with the world of crypto wallets, Web3, and NFTs.

It has the backing of NFT marketplace Magic Eden, Solana wallet maker Phantom, and cryptocurrency exchange Orca to help provide users with a better experience than other digital crypto and NFT wallets from big names such as Samsung and the likes.
