META NOW ALLOWS ITS USERS TO POST THEIR NFTs ACROSS FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM

Social media company Meta has announced the integration of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to the Facebook platform. NFT creators can now showcase their digital collectibles across Facebook and Instagram. Some of the wallets supported by the global social media giants include Metamask wallet and Coinbase Wallet.

In an updated blog post released on Monday, 29th August 2022, Meta announced that users can now link their digital wallets to either Facebook or Instagram, thereby making it possible to post NFTs and digital collectibles across both social media platforms.

Meta had earlier announced that NFT creators and businesses in up to 100 countries in the Middle East, the Asia Pacific, Africa and the Americas will be able to display their NFTs and digital collectibles on Instagram.

At that same time, the global social media giants revealed that the platform will now support Ethereum, Polygon, and Flow blockchains on its Instagram app. Third-party wallets also supported by Meta include Metamask wallet, Trust Wallet, Rainbow Wallet, Coinbase Wallet and Dapper Wallet.

The ability to share NFTs on social media apps was first trialled on Instagram with select creators and collectors in the United States. Meanwhile, Meta’s expansion of the feature to include Facebook and users outside the U.S. is a testament to the company’s plans to improve widespread access to NFTs.

A statement from Meta in May said:

“By building support for NFTs, we aim to improve accessibility, lower barriers to entry, and help make the NFT space more inclusive to all communities.”
