ASIA’S RICHEST MAN PLEDGES MAMMOTH DONATION TO CHARITY

Chairman of the Adani Group, Gautam Adani who is the richest man in Asia recently pledged on behalf of him and his family to donate 600 Billion Rupees (equivalent to $7.7 Billion) to charity in commemoration of his 60th birthday.

The Indian business tycoon who clocks 60 on Friday 1, July 2022 joins the ranks of worldwide billionaires like Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, and Mark Zuckerberg who have committed significant portions of their wealth towards philanthropy. The Adani Group’s donation is almost half of what the Bill & Melinda Gates donated to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation back in 2021.

With his net worth capped at almost $92 Billion as reported by the Bloomberg Millionaires Index, Gautam Adani recently added a little above $15 Billion to his fortunes this year after his company’s share price rapidly skyrocketed this year which made him the biggest wealth gainer in the world in 2022.

The Adani Group started as a small agro-trading startup in 1988 but has now evolved into a giant business conglomerate with forays into logistics, mining, power generation, and distribution, and most recently, green energy, data centers, airports, and, cement. Its billionaire founder had also pledged a total investment commitment of about $70 Billion by 2030 to make his group the world’s largest producer of renewable-energy.

Gautam Adani himself is from Gujarat, Western India, just like India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his fellow Asian billionaire Mukesh Ambani. He has exponentially grown his conglomerate by aligning his business strategies with the Nation of India’s government development priorities. His recent expansion process has also seen his name in new lines of business like media, digital services, and sports.
